Picked theis up today indrectly from the vet along with an SA and HJ by Puma. Nice dark heavy patina to it and the blade is in excellent shape only bummer is the clip is broke, the leather is all intact with the normal scuffing on the handle. Pretty nice piece.

I think this is a transitional piece, the chain is aluminum. Am I correct?

Scabbard mating plate under the buffer on the crossguard looks fairly thick. I would agree with your assesment, yes. Dont see many mid period 1st lufts with a patia that good on there scabbard fittings though! must be a early transitional. That maker mark style is an earlier one also. Kevin.

Hi Medes, yes it's aluminum, it's really light and the patina isn't there like the rest, the clip is nickle but the chain no.

Hi Fritz, Nice Alcoso, Love that maker. I had a early luft sword with the plated steel scabbard fittings too, I'm no expert but from what i have found is alocoso did not start making these until late in the game it is hard to find them with nickel fittings and hardware thoughout, just about every example has the combination of nickel hilt fittings, plated steel scabb fittings and either nickel or aluminum chain or both before they went all aluminum. I would love to see a nice example with all nickel fittings i'm sure it's a rare sight. This sword has the nickel hilt and steel plated scabbard fittings from the same period unfortunately no hanger.
