Hey Guys

Found this beatiful dagger the other day right out of the wood work. a very early Paul Weyersburg 1st model luft. Great age and patina Few marks on the balde, but doesn't take away too much form the dagger. The most unique thing about this dagger is the # 28 stamped underneath the Pommel. What do you guys think.

I think it's pretty cool and would have probably bought it as well. Congratulations!

So the 28 represents the model of the dagger?

Spencer,
I think that the number 28 could possibly be a number stamped by the manufacturer & not a unit accountability number. I draw this conclusion from the fact that I have a 1st model made by Heller that has a 31 stamped on it. The dagger also has unit markings. I wondered about the 31 because it seemed to bear no relation to the unit markings that were engraved & not stamped. I then happened across another Heller that had the same 31 stamped on it. thus I drew my conclusion. I should however point out that these numbers were on the throat & not on the pommel.

Congratulations on a very nice untouched dagger.
I believe them to be one of the best pieces made in the period. With the market (IMO) absurdly over-heated in many other daggers I believe them to still be comparitively good value.
