My latest army crusher caps.
The real crusher cap with leather visor and fully foldable cap body is a medical officer with bevo flat wire insignia in silver.
Not very nice condition, but it has been there!
The other one is a Old style cap, with hard thin visor, and a standard not foldable cap body. It is stamped 1936.

So what is the difference between a old style cap and a crusher cap?
Well a crusher cap can be crushed. Meaning it is more like a "field" cap. You can put it in your pocket if you like. (well back in the 40`s, not today...)
It had a leather visor and a cloth brim behind the cap band.
The old style cap is a step closer to the visor cap. It had often a thin fibre visor. Different from the ones on standard visor caps.
And it had a paper brim behind the cap band, meaning that it is not foldable.
Both types could have all types of insignia.
From flat wire to metal.
Typical is not to use offiser silver cord.
But some officers added them to the cap.
