Hello all, Just wondering what a fair price to pay for a cased 2nd class fire brigade honor decoration would be or a rough price range even. Thanks Duzig(Bill)

Hello Duzig, I'm going to shoot from the hip on this one but in decent shape cased, I'd say around $300.00. Lets see what others think.

Hello, Fritzii thanks for your reply. I'd like to hear what others think too. I would have figured they'd be in the $300 to $350 range maybe a little more, but lately the one's I have been seeing are in the $500 and above range which I think is on the high end,at least if you consider what they were going for about a year ago. Craig had one sitting on his site for quite awhile last year if I'm not mistaken & in good shape in the $350 range I believe. I'm just wondering if the prices have really risen up to the $500 and $600 range or what. Again thanks and would like to hear others idea about price on these also. regards Duzig(Bill)

I would have to say, prices have risen in these fields. They have been much under price concidering other military items. Customs medal with proper ribbon in very good condition is at £250.00. Police Cross with correct ribbon, silver £175.00, gold £250.00. NSDAP cross's have shown the same sort of rise. But having said this, these pieces, are much rarer than the counter parts in the Military field and are still considerably cheaper.

Cased I would think $375.00 - $400.00 in top condition. Would I pay that much? No. I feel cases are over rated. They make a nice accessory and it's good to have a few cased items for display but collecting only the best and only the complete sets has been pushed upon us somewhat. IMO.
The last price I recorded for the 2nd. class medal alone was $225.00 in collectible condition.

Hello, Thanks Christopher & Joe for your answers. I just wondered because it does seem that less than a year ago the prices were in the range Joe mentioned and all of a sudden they shot upwards. I should say most of the prices I've seen in the $500 & $600 dollar range have been on dealers sites so in some respects this pricing is not surprising. I do think that as time goes on items like this, civil and political items will become more popular with collectors. Again thankd for your replies, Duzig(Bill)
