I WORKED FOR THREE MONTHS TO GET THIS HELMET, THE VET AND I ON MONDAY THE 5TH OF MARCH WENT OUT TO HIS GARAGE AND FOUND THE HELMET. IT WAS SO EXICTING AFTER 30 MINS OF SEARCHING WE MOVED A BOX AND THERE IT WAS PILLED UP IN A CORNER. I COLLECT DAGGERS BUT ALWAYS WANTED A HELMET. IM TO SCARED TO BUY ONE BECAUSE OF THE FAKES OUT THERE. SO HERE IT IS. IM NOT FOR SURE IF THE EAGLE IS NSKK OR SOMETHING ELESE. IM PRETTY SURE ITS NOT NSKK BECAUSE IT DOESN'T MATCH WITH THE OTHER EXAMPLES I LOOKED OUT IN MY REFRENCE. WANTED YOUR GUYS OPINION. ALSO FOR MY INSURANCE WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK ITS WORTH

Well for your first helmet you certainly bought an odd one . I have a feeling its an original double decal NSKK helmet missing the NSKK bit from above the Eagle .Rob.

So its an M 40 thanks for the info. I looked at some NSKK examples and the ones i was able to find showed the nskk logo above the helmet and this one doesn't have it and looks like it wasn't ever there. I could be wrong, anyways thanks again for the info. if someone knows what its worth that would be great. Also a good recomendation on leather treatment.

You can make out the Luft adler under the NSKK adler, the scroll on top was sometimes removed. Looks like the leather has already been treated, was it done before you picked it up?

Yes...my opinion is the same as every other's. Please leave the helmet as is. It is a nice original Luftwaffe which has been reissued to the NSKK. A rare piece.
Cheers,
Darryl

Looks a very nice helmet!! NSKK helmets are so rares, I had only two in over 30 years of collection! Here is 2 photos of the one I have currently in my collection. I have old photos of this helmet 20 years ago somewhere, I'll try to found them and post them here. Happy collecting! Philippe www.majorplm.com

Wow. For your first helmet you've really found a "binger". Good going!

Hey Guys
Sorry to bring an old topic back up. I did some research, and with the help of a good friend of mine we have id why there is no Nskk logo above the eagel. Turns out like most of you said it was a reissued luft helmet. Acording to this book (Uniforms, organisation and history of the Nskk Nsfk By John R Angolia An David Littlejohn) most Nskk helmets were reissued luft helmets. The reason the Nskk scroll was removed. Was to represent the Albert Speer orginzation. Thats what this book says. I have posted a photo below of the helmet with removed scroll in the book. Let me know what you guys think, and if you have ever seen another one like it.

TransportGruppe Speer. They also removed the NSKK scroll from their cloth insignia they wore as well. Angolias NSKK book does a good job on covering these guys. The uniforms were neat with very stylized SP collar tabs.
A very cool helmet and quite a "Bell ringer" for your first helmet. Congratulations!
