Could I have some opinions on this armband? Got this from a grandson of the vet who brought this stuff so he says! Also got a gau pl armband, a afrika korps cufftitle and a volkssturm armband. The rest are good so I just need opinions on this.

Bob. Just funny that this guy would have all original stuff from his gramps and then a fake armband!

That Waffen SS armband looks like the same one that Delta International sold in the early 70's.

I HAVE NEVER SEEN THIS FORM OF CIVILIAN ARMBAND FOR THE WAFFEN SS BEFORE. I HAVE LEARNED THAT IS NOT A SURE FIRE WAY OF JUDGING ORIGINALITY. THE EIGENTUM STAMP REFLECTS AN UNKNOWN SS GEBERGSJAEGER REGIMENT WHICH I THINK SEALS THE DEAL ON THIS PIECE. POSSIBLY A PIECE GIVEN TO THE VET OR PICKED UP OVER THE YEARS. I HAVE SEEN BETTER PICTURES OF THE GAULEITUNG ARMBAND AND IT APPEARS TO BE A PERIOD EXAMPLE.

Doug. This should be in the political section but since you asked for more pics of the pl armband here are some. Only one pic of the inside showing how the white circle is attached.

Bob, SS-Gebirgsjager Regiment 11 was given the honorific "Reinhard Heydrich" by Hitler on 4 June 1942. It was part of the Waffen-SS Division "Nord" and was authorised an armband on 15 June, 1942.

The piece may be a reproduction- I don't know, but the unit did exist.

I don't like that ss armband at all, with the weak uneven printing.

I have issues with the political armband.

For a Reich's level piece, the quality and workmanship is very suspect..

In particular, the size and application of the gold piping and the stitching of the bottom portion of the white roundel (espc.in the closeup pic)

Doug. Four dealers and one member on here says it looks good and 2 don't so I go with the majority. Aslo 2 dealers said not to be so quick to judge the ss armband because they have seen them before.

You know what guys. I am just going to send all the items back to the guy that sold them to me. These were given to him by his grandmother and she told him that all these were stuff his grnadfather brought back when the war ended! Hard to believe they made fakes before 1945! Funny that the afrika korps cufftitle and the volkssturm armband he brought back were good but the PL and ss armband were bad!

Sorry for the mispeak on the stamp. I was going off of memory and thought the regiment number to be incorrect.
The Vice Gauleiter armband is not Reich but Gau level indicated by the Burgandy edge piping. I have never seen a fake of the type4 armband that had embroidery that perfectly matched the oakleaf ribbon. I believe the close up shots over emphasize the details of the swastika and the gold trim.

theres always the arguement they could be late war, thus loss of quality, though hard to beleive as the reich never lost the quality of manafacture in my opinion. i dont like them and certainly not the first one with the stamp. the open weave on the second dosnt look very profesional, almost sloppy, im in the opinion they may of been thrown in the collection by the vet who may of had them given him post war, who knows? im with the majority, not right, sorry.

Yeah..I don't know Rod..lots of strange items come from vets..some good, some not so good.sometimes its just seeing good ones over and over again that gives you a 'feel' for the items.

I have just never seen a really sloppy political leaders armband. They usually maintain a high level of quality, right up to end (though when the 'end' was, I can't say!)

The trouble with this stuff today is that it is too expensive to have any doubts with...

I totally agree with you Doug. When you have the PL armband in hand there is absolutely nothing sloppy on the workmanship! Some of the gold bullion is worn from age and has turned a kind of a silvery color. No matter what the outcome these are heading back to where they came from!

No opinion on armbands, but opinion on Vet bringback etc.
I have seen more crap in old vet bringback collections than any other group as a whole.
They will swear on a stack of bibles the crap is direct bringback, but we know it is recent made, by when it showed on market.
I have sold fake/fantasy/repro junk to old ww2 vets , they take it and show it off , along with their b.s. story, and then try to resell at the next show when shown the stuff is fake, and that is where the bringback stories start

Robert. Yours appears to have never been sewn on? Mine has been sewn on and you can see the small hems on the back and that is why it looks narrower than yours. Mark. I know what you mean about fake vet bring backs!

The big give away on these bands is the shape of the 'holes' in the letters R and P in Korps.

I don't have one handy, but take a good closeup of the two letters and you will see what I mean.

Doug. Are you saying that mine is not good? I listed this on another forum and got the thumbs up on it! It is on its way to big time dealer. He said it looked good but wanted a hands on inspection.
