Probably a fairly easy question for you more experienced blade guys...
I know I have seen the dates of manufacture on the blades of the Transitionals, but having limited experience with SAs, does the date appear on the earlier maker marked ones, or the later RZM ones as well?
If not, then I think that makes the Transitionals pretty cool.

There are some RZMs which display the date. The only RZM in my collection is marked M7/68 with the year 1941 underneath.
As for maker marked SAs, I think the only example of a date is on J.P. Sauer & Sohn, but that's 1751 which would be their founding date.

First we have to agree on what "Transitional" means. To me, it refers only to a Political dagger blade* and it means that there is both the RZM code and the maker's mark or name.
Note that sometimes the makers mark is an abbreviated version of the mark used on early daggers. Sometimes it is a name spelled out.
To answer your question, Yes there are many SA (and a few SS RZM daggers such as 120/34 or 285/38 or 941/36)that are dated.
Examples follow. Hope this helps.
Dave
* Some daggers are refered to as rransitional based on materials, but that is another subject.
