Hello,

I want to show my recent addition of my collection.

It's a fantastic, almost untouched DD WH Army helmet.
The classic apple-green paint is up 97 % intact.
The decals are 99 % intact and remarkably well preserved. (gold aged toned)

The liner band is dated 1937, nice liner with original drawstring.
Helmet chinstrap is at one side improvided to the linerhook. (nice detail of inventivity; I saw it recently again at the same manner to a helmet)

Helmet is the smallest helmet which is produced; SE 60, batchnumber 3299.

The helmet has written initials at the backside "G.S."
The liner is also named but the name is scratched out and unreadable.

Very special is the issued cloth clothing tag which is added inside the liner.
Clothing tag reads: "Oberkanonier Speth, 1.Batterie A.R. 46.
There is also a unit stamp added to the liner: "1./A.R.46 II"

A museum quality helmet in my eyes and I'm very proud of owning such a helmet.

Hi guys,

The chinstrap is not a field-repaired item...it was manufactured this way. This is a feature of the early chinstraps which you see more commonly on transitional helmets but occassionally on later ones. I believe this style is attributable to just a few makers.

Very cool helmet.

I think I found it. His ISP inserts a random ad popup when you link in. My firewall blocks it and just reported it to me. Not really a virus, just an irritant. There may be a problem with one of the ads if you click on the window.

You learned me (and maybe others) something about this manner of fixing a chinstap to the linerhook. I always thought it was a inventive field-repair and was wondering why I saw recently the same manner of fixing the chinstrap by another helmet. Now it explains to me

Is there a source or something else like that which tell me about this manner of improving a chinstrap as you commended ?
Quite interesting subject because I never heard of such a way to repair/attach a chinstrap to the linerhook.
