That's not an EF variant 1st pattern decal, IMHO. In fact at this stage I am not sure if it's even a real one. Can we please see more pics of this helmet?

Cheers,

Darryl

Good to hear from you again, Darryl. I was looking at my reference books and thought it was not correct, but since I don't have the real expertise on these I didn't want to add my opinion.

Regards,
-Mike

Sorry Darryl but I don't see anything wrong. Here is a known picture of a real one and I don't see any difference. Forty years of collecting, tell us something if you can. Ken

Rev! do you make all your calls from books or do you have any on hand? Book smart collectors should practise unexpressed thought. Sorry Ken

Actually Ken, I was just commenting to Darryl that I thought there was a problem with the decal, But I felt I had not enough experience to make a judgement. I have currently 1 SS helmet on hand but it is not an ET. I have sold off most of my small collection over the past year. I don't think anyone would think that only book references are sufficient, but they are a help. In any case I was only saying hello to Darryl. In future I will not be espressing any thoughts to upset you as this is my final post.

To the rest of you, sorry. I had a good time. I wish you all well.
-Mike

Sorry Rev! Did'nt mean to come on so strong. People have to much invested and shoot from the hip opinion can kill a helmet. Good helmets gone bad. I would stick around. Ken

Ken,

I never "shoot from the hip"...a dead aim is my way of doing things right. I would suggest that you re-evaluate your 40 years of collecting and judge whether that decal is indeed an EF.

Hardigan,

Can you tell what shell this decal is on?

Cheers,

Darryl

Sorry Ken Darryl's experience against your forty years...I'm betting on Darryl every single time. Decal detecting for Darryl is a precise science, down to nuances and precise measurements based on handling hundreds and having one of the premiere SS helmet collections in the world known to the collecting community. I for one take his opinions as gospel. They are not flippantly given or arrived at. cheers and respect, Ryan

When it comes to SS helmets, there are experts and there are those who think they are experts. Then there's Darryl. Wink

Rev. Mike,

As Paul said, your opinions are always welcomed...at least in my books. You have a way of cutting to the chase and putting things in perspective. I hope that you will reconsider and stay around.

Cheers,

Darryl

I have to support everything Paul and others have said about Darryl. He has always given his considered opinion too me when asked and he has always been right on the money. I accept his comments as gospel in this field.

Paul, Steve, Ken, Darryl:

My apologies. I am not going anywhere just yet. It was a rough day at the office trying to finish the quarterly fiancial report and I was just tired. I look forward to taking part in future discussions and must agree that Darryl is one of the greatest assets to this forum.
(Now if I can find out why I'm out $188.99 on my reconciliation, I'll be a happy camper.)

Cheers,
-Mike

K.P. I will send you some "thoughts" by email on Monday. Do not take them as the gospel as I am still learning, but I will point out my concerns. I just need to prepare for Sunday right now...

Cheers
-Mike
