Where are they now??? The DF Hpstf. had a bigfoot eagle, the GVB was found in a film studios wardrobe in Hollywood. The Artillery Stbf. came out of a huge collection but was restored, the eagle replaced and the cufftitle added post war before I had it.

I often wondered when they made the early ww2 films if they actually used original items. I guess they did Wink

Here is one I owned for a short time and one of the few I really regret selling. I never took a snapshot but clipped this from the auction it was sold in at the time. It was missing a sleeve eagle and the cufftitle but you could plainly see where they were on it and it was missing the rear belt supports.I would love to know where it is now.Unfortunately I sold it back to Auction because at the time I wanted a complete tunic. They added an eagle and cufftitle and resold it.The owner of the auction was the MAX auctioneer at the time. This tunic had alot of character and was 100% good.It was a retailored reichsheer tunic. If anyone out there has an idea where it might be now,Id love to know.

John,

When you let the Der Fuhrer (SS-Hstuf) tunic go, did it still have the bad sleeve eagle on it? Did the shoulder boards have the DF ciphers in silver and the piping was either dirty white or had a grayish color to it? I think I may have seen that tunic not long ago.

No that was a different tunic which I also owned at one time here it is.It was made in Prague and had a bullion eagle on it.Actually that one was an Obersturmfuhrer. The one pictured above, at that time I had no clue the eagle was a fake, years later I get a laugh at my learning experience. The runic tab on it was badly moth eaten.Sorry about the size but the site wouldnt let me download anything bigger???PAIN IN THE BUTT IT NEVER KNOWS WHAT SIZE IS OK!!!Follow this link for a better picture.

Here is the other Der fuhrer I think your talking about it had gray piping and was named to a "Hartrampf".H

John,

Sorry for the mix up. Yes, this is the tunic that I have seen, the DF SS-Obersturmfuhrer with light-gray piped shoulder boards. Was that 100% authentic, or did it have replaced insignia? If the shoulder boards really had light-gray waffenfarben, would that indicate Stab RFSS? And if so, why would it have a DER FUHRER cuffband on it? Guy transferring around maybe?

Thanks,
Tim

I believe all the insignias were original to the tunic except the eagle which I felt was replaced at one time.It was originally missing one cypher and when I traded it away I gave the other party an extra set of original cyphers smaller in size.
The gray piping was as you say for officers assigned to work in the offices of the Reichsfuhrer. One would retain his unit cufftitle if assigned to this Duty i.e. Jochen Peiper who served as adjutant to Himmler retained his LAH cufftitle.I never gathered any info on Hartrampf at the time but he was assigned to the 2nd SS panzer division.
