I never thought that it would be so hard to find a SA kepi from the group Südwest. Finally after over 2 years I´ve found one. Hope you like it.

Thanks, Gentlemen. Isn´t it strange, that although millions of those SA kepis in general must have existed, they´re really show up very rarely ... much, much rarer than SA daggers.

The kepis were a cap of fragile construction. They also were stored in private homes, which would have made them slightly less available to Allied troops. This is likely one of the reasons they are not seen as often. Internet buying has also helped dry up the supply. I remember you searching the SOS for one two years ago. Your quest is finally fulfilled.

IV, great score. SA Kepis (of any rank) are extremely hard to find in this nice condition.

Judging from my experience, very few families held onto such items in the immediate aftermath of WW2, not with the threat of imprisonment and 'de-nazification' upon being associated with the former regime.

Many of these were burned, buried or drowned all across Germany, doubly so if you had the misfortune to live in a part of Germany now occupied by the Russians..

People I know in Germany are constantly amazed by the amount and type of headgear available in the U.S.
