Hey guys,
I don't do the combat bayonets, but I do aquire one from time to time. This particular one is painted in a heavy black paint on the scabbard, almost looks melted on. Is it period, or something done at a later date? The Waffenamt stamps are very weakly stamped. I couldn't even read them with a loupe. It appears the scabbard does match, but without removeing the paint, I can't be sure. Is it worth the trouble to have a look, or just hang it back on the wall?
Thanks, Steve.

Its look like a postwar paint, but who knows , Yes it could be matching, there is some rust on pommel, maybe it was added to prevent rusting on scabbard body, best regards,Andy
