I recently acquired this brown 84/98III frog on a Feurwehr bayonet. Actually it was the main reason for buying the bayo. Can anyone help with the markings. Thanks..
The frog is made by Wilhelm Hansen & Braun, Solingen & dated 1938
Additional markings are:
Aufkl.Gr.11. 1938
3./Aufkl.Gr.11.
Also a lightly stamped L.B.A.

This seems to indicate the 3rd Kompagnie of Aufklarungs Gruppe 11 for Luftwaffe personnel. A very nice Luftwaffe frog. Is it brown or black?

That's how I translate it also, although the "3" may be Staffel/squadron (?). A very nicely marked frog  . Which is researchable insofar as the unit history is concerned. My guess is that it’s dark brown, with another from 1939 by another maker with the broader style character markings inside of a border. The broader character type markings being seen less often than the narrower types. FP PS: The lighting is off a little on the image posted below, too much blue/not enough red.
