It seems hard to believe that Niemann stooped that low. This is a well known Spanish replica from the 80s made by Marto which used to be available for about $150 US. Stating that the blade was made by RZM 7/36 (Hoerster) is a clear misrepresentation.

I sincerely don't think that Detlev's COA is an original one. It would very easy to duplicate a fake certificate.

There have been several discussions on WAF about unscrupulous coa's involving the use of Niemanns name on them.

The problem is we all know that but in the world wide web many don't. To sell a reproduction as an original is bad enough. To copy a COA to go with it is below pond scum.

I emailed the seller and asked for more information about the COA and no surprise that i am not getting a reply... I know it would be more expensive but if you are reading this Detlev - you might want to think about watermarking or numbering you COA's so that authentication is a little easier. Just a suggestion mind you.

Several years ago someone created a fake letterhead UNLIKE anything I had ever used. They used it to write a faked authentication letter for a well-known type of counterfeit Gestapo warrant disc, and sold it to a collector in Florida....at a Florida gun show....complete with my FORGED signature...which in no way resembled my signature. I tried to help the poor guy find out who scammed him, so we both could prosecute, but he could never learn who the seller was.

When you think about it... in the world of WWII reproductions, the easiest thing to reproduce is a reputable dealers Certificate of Authenticity. I have heard of this happening before, I have also heard of "good" certificates being matched up with "bad" pieces to help them sell... I guess this is why Craig has those cool holograms and photographs!
