I'm no expert on RZM's but from what I know, it looks good to me. Might want to check Whittman's SS book to see if the maker mark looks the same as know examples.

Thanks, Blademan

Sorry,it's a fake. 1051 is Klaas and 7/14 is Luneschloss, so the faker was even to lazy to check the right RZM/SS code configuration. See the picture, that's the right one. This type of runic grip insert is also known to me, as the one appearing on czech made "SS daggers" (I got burned once myself buying "Bker" Mad in Prague).

Good detective work guys. The RZM codes do not match. Also not the well-worn look to the blade, but a near-perfect grip and scabbard Big Grin

Dave

PS - you do sometimes find a dagger with a well-used exterior with a pristine blade.

Wow, that's a good looking Runes button, what do you look for 777 to tell it's a fake runes button? Thanks, John

HAL9000... if a friend of yours is offering this to you, I think it might be time to reassess.

thanks 777, Dave and John for your help.

the first thing that seems strange to me is that 7/14 is for PD Lneschloss and 1051/40 is for Klaas, and the second, the pristine mint condition grip and the regular blades condition. I ask the seller more pics dissasembled to se the tang and the eagle in detail. Well, as TJ said in one of their first books, the first impression ever is a good impression. If a dagger seems to be done yesterday, probably was done yesterday. If the seller send me more pics Ill upload as info added to this post

Well, it's mainly not the way it looks. It is almost always this very button type connected with fake daggers from (most likely)Czech Republic. But, I'd like to make it clear, about the button I only have doubts, about the blade I'm sure.

777,
Friend, in tose fakers times I prefer be careful and hear any help from GDC members. Its difficult to discrimate on daggers that I never had in my hands, but the grip seems to be perfect after 60 years, and the rest of the dagger isnt in the same condition.
Better be careful.......... or buy to a reputed dealer ;-)
