I picked this up over the weekend. It's a genuine NSDAP party pin that has been made into a golden party badge by removing the pin assembly and attaching to a wreath. You can still see the gold plating in the recesses where the edge of the pin meets the wreath. It is a fairly well made setup. I was wondering if this is possibly something that could have been put together during the period, possibly to replace a lost badge or other reason? Personally I doubt it but it is sort of interesting and does look to have some age to it. Mike

Three dots on the bottom of the wreath. There is one dot on the top.

Well, that's an oddity - made more odd by the fact that the number on it (6) belonged to F.X. Schwarz, who was NSDAP Treasurer and in charge of issuing the Gold Party Badge. It's his signature on all GPB documents. The odds of him having a non-official badge I would guess are quite small.

Wearing a non-official GPB would also get you in a world of trouble, especially when replacements only cost 2.5 RM.

The wreath is also on upside down, and I have no idea what it originally belonged to. The back looks believable with the vent hole, but the front set up isn't anything I've seen.

I don't know what to make of it, but the wreath portion doesn't look like it was made to accommodate the badge, as it overlaps the edges of the leaves.

Cheers,

Stephen

Interesting piece. Strange things happened during the TR but this probably wasn't one of them. Cool looking though!

I would offer the same line of thought as Stephen, (as typical) and when considering Schwartz's high level and prestigious position in the party and having his choice and pick of the selection, (if he so desired) he wouldn't even consider such a non-reg and home made piece.
"Replacement - Reissue" - NO WAY!

It's not from the period and more so a wild dream from the purveyors of the "Fourth Reich"

Respectfully,

John

I believe John is most likely correct about this badge being a creation of the fourth reich. I doubt that the number 6 was meant to be the number of Schwartz. Instead it possibly could have been the local membership number of the new owner that the badge was made for. Someone went to alot of trouble to have a special badge made and the low number might be an indicator of why. Also I think it is likely that the badge is still 40 or 50 years old. Just some possibilities. Mike

6th member of the Boys From Brazil Glee Club?

Whatever it is, I can see why you picked it up. I would have too just out of curiosity. It is a pretty thing and we all love a mystery. Thanks for sharing it.

Cheers,

Stephen
