I don't post much here anymore, but I thought I'd try to do a service by letting everyone know that I received the following email message today from an email address that says the sender is a certain Tomasz Nowak:

"Hello:

I have some German Insignia/Medals from WWI and WWII and a few German
helmets from WWI and WWII in a good condition. I have also a few
bayonets
and swords for sale: japanese arisaka, and three french bayonets:
Chassepot,
Grass and Lebel. I would like to sell them for a reasonable price. I
also
have a japanese swords (katana and tanto) with the blade from XVIII
century.
If you could have an interest, let me know.

Regards."

I did a quick yahoo search and found the following information:
http://www.budoseek.net/vbulletin/pr...ead.php?t=7069

So, just be aware that if you get an email from this guy, and you follow up on it, it'll probably end in tears.

I received the same mail earlier this week. I did not respond as I did not recognize the owner . . . .

Hmm, well, just type "Tomasz Nowak scam" into any search engine and you'll find lots of fun reading.

For what it's worth, I also received an email with the same message about 4 days ago. Whomever is sending this out, must be finding collectors from their posts on the German Daggers forums.

Here's mine . . . received March 14th and simply ignored it as I didn't know the sender and only deal with the folks here at GDC!

Looks like this bastard has changed his e-mail address:

[email protected]

The e-mail letter is the same as rest.

Is anyone taking action against this guy? We should try to have him caught.

Jim Modena sent me the IP number of that yahoo email he got. It traces back to Poland. The guy is not on GDC with that name or IP.

I suspect that he is using an old list or has access to a completely different computer.

Whu don't you sucker him along requesting endless pics and info but not buying ?

Hi Dave I already attempted it. I asked for pictures and provenance/more info and after sending several emails asking for this info the guy disappeared. Not a very good scam or even that professional. As long as there is no forum member who would purchase on spec without pictures or info we should all be okay. Hope no one gets fooled and hope that the guy has not refined his scam. cheers, Ryan Also the guy, as far as I know has not yet de-frauded anyone so he has not yet done anything ilegal. Suposition is not proof of a crime.

VERY sad that a man has to cheat people to make a fast buck! In the end God sees all and remembers all. He will get what is comming to him soon enough!

Ryan,

Look at this thread:

http://daggers.infopop.cc/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/172097...690077214#4690077214

I think he has defrauded people.

Yep. Got it, too. I wonder if he even had the junk? I think when i answered his initial email, he answered with another email address, and had obvious fakes, so I didn't bother to pursue.

PS: yes, I'm still alive, just have had some very hard personal trials for the past year. My mind hasn't been on the hobby.

I did receive pictures from him. One of the alarms to me is the pictures were in all sorts of different formats and taken under different conditions. This is not a sure fire indication of reason for concern but usually a good one.

First pic.
N.B. I have copied over the bulk of the pictures I received from this Novak guy at Dave Hohaus's request. Some of these items look out and out bad to me. Others look ok. What do you think?
