Hi Hitler's visors for the wartime period had white piping above the center band and gold bullion piping along the top or crown. There are many colored pictures of a variety of his visors in wear. cheers, Ryan

I recall seeing photos of two types of visors - the prewar period visor that looks like the standard political visor with yellow piping, and a darker looking wartime visor. I assume the gold piping is a higher level than the yellow. I've also seen earlier - pre-Fuhrer photos of Hitler in a kepi.It would be nice if someone could post photos & ex-plain the color levels.

In the german photo book "the new Reichschancellery" theres a very good color photo of Hitler cap, upsidedown with gloves inside, in fact I think this is the main object the photo wanted to capture since the other items are a flower vase and a telephone and wall mirror. The cap is the party one(brown) there you can see the diferent type of piping used in this cap.

All the best,
Federico

In the the DVDs "The Third Reich in Color" you can see Hitler in 2 types of visors - the one shown above - and one from the 30s that looks like the standard brown political visor with yellow piping. You can freeze frame these & get a good look.

Confused
Is there any collector that has a visor worn by Hitler? any knowlege of any of Hitlers personal artifacts? I am not trying to get off topic, just curious. Perhaps the Russians have it.

Paul,
I understand that one of AH peaked caps is in a private collection in the USA,I know that from a good source from a very high end collector here in the UK but I don't know who the American collector is and would guess that with such a controvertial item he would want to keep it secret!
But I have been fortunate to see and handle one of AH brown shirts that is located in a Mind Blowing collection on your East coast ,,,,,Stephen

Paul, one of Hitler's tunics does indeed reside in a private collection. I am not at liberty to offer more. Here is one of Hitler's double breasted tunics on display in the Moscow military museum.

That particular Hitler peak cap without any wreath was acquired from the Munich Braunhaus by US Army 1stLt Ben Lieber, along with other personal effects of Hitler's. It was pictured on page 196 in Tom Shutt's 1981 book 'Dress & Field service Hats of the 3dReich'. At the time it was owned by Mohawk Arms; I don't know who the present owner is.

Schloss,

That is correct. I found this image in my copy of Steve Shutt's headgear book. At the time of it's publishing the cap belonged to Ray Zyla of Mohawk Arms. I do know who presently owns this cap but I should probably get his permission before revealing it here.

Cheers,

Darryl

I believe the late Ben Swearingen unearthed this Hat together with some other Items belonging to Hitler.
I have always found interesting the gold piping that was used for the crown of this particular piece of headgear.
How it is knotted as opposed to weaved.
The way the brown finish on the visor has aged is also worth noting.

Yes, it's true that Ben Swearingen unearthed this cap, along with many other fine AH relics in 1959, from the former GI who brought it back, Mr. Philip Ben Lieber, of Shreveport. Ben bought as much as he could from Mr. Lieber, & Ray Zyla eventually acquired the bulk of the treasure.

This very interesting. Wonder what a peaked cap of Hitler would cost.

Hi the Longbeach California duo of Stephen Wolfe and Neil Hardin own a purported Hitler visor and brownshirt. Both of these items were displayed at many of the Max shows in the latter part of the 1990's. Estimates are that a Hitler visor with provenance would exceed $500,000.00 in intrinsic value. I would think that the actual value would be far greater. I think that the Goring Reichsmarschall visor on display at the SOS would be close to this value. cheers, Ryan S

There is a casino in Las Vegas - I forget which one - that has Hitler's Mercedes on display. Surely this would have to be the most valuable Hitler item?

Anybody know what other artifacts
