Well it finally arrived and it is far from perfect but in my opinion for the price I payed I got a hell of a deal. And my Brownies can sleep content in the fact that I am not forever lost to the dark side because this ones the only one in my price range The ole Brownies are still well in my range. But I am happy to have the addition of a darkside dagger!

And a fair warning to anyone would thinks green goo looks cool on your dagger(s), will take a look at the pitting on the nickle silver crossguards and scabbard fittings, you might then think differently. Also guards are marked PA and district mark III

I like it! I would leave the grip and scabbard as they are.

Adam... I think you've done well too.
I would be very happy with that, especially at the price you've paid.
Unless it's a complete "pig", I think all SS daggers should be considered for purchase at that price.

Even if it's not mint, still does have the "character"! Nice motto with crossgrains. Now, what's you need it's a chained M36!

Ohhh...Adam. You're treading dangerous waters now.Soon you will stare at it for hours and then you'll feel something is missing. Then you'll realize that you also want a M36 with that,Oh so schweeet chain on it.Then there's NO way back. Ulf the hooked.

Some new pictures, I spent hours hand cleaning the fittings too get the steal wool scratches of that some ding bat used to clean it. But they look 100% better then before. When I pulled the scabbard fittings off there was some original anodizing finish under them, but IMO someone painted over the anodizing because the scabbard was probably suffering from some corrosion they did not do the best job preparing for a repaint, I doubt it was a collector who did it as there is paint right over some small pits. I think someday I will spend some serious time and redo it so I can re-anodize the scabbard and not repaint which is not the correct way to do it. I got a degree in Auto Body so I think I can do it really nice welding the pits sand the spot weld down and then acid etch the whole scabbard so the blueing can be lied evenly even over the spot welds, I did this on a K98 I had restored and it worked awesome using this technique there was no unevenness even were I had welded . But this project will wait for now but I will post results when done. I know a lot of you guys siad leave it the way it is but I dont think a ****ty post war repaint is worth leaving IMO.

Looks better Adam. I agree with your plan to re-finish if it is an old, sh@@ty post-war repaint. If you can do what you are describing, I think it will look great. Good luck with it!

Here is the new refinished scabbard, I decided to leave some pitting in the scabbard since the rest of the dagger isn't perfect I did not want the scabbard to look out of place on the rig. I think it was a better decisions the scabbard still pretty much matchs the age of the rest of the rig the pitting spots that I left seem to look like they are just spots coming through the anodized. I am happy and it looks 100% better then nasty post war paint over rust and original anodizing finish. Oh and I blued it and used laquer clear coat over the blue.

Good job Adam! looks great. I have a feeling that you just caught the black fever. You will have to periodically feed this newly acquired addiction. I don't expect that it will be too long before you are showing us another one!
