Ailsbys rep is FUBAR and beyond any hope of salvage.

Were he to return at least a portion of his ill gotten gains, it would only show that he has some shame and a conscience .. Still wouldn't do much to get anyone who has heard of this scam to deal with him again.
He has shown himself as a bottom feeding vulture of the worst stripe, and my hope is that he gets jacked around the way he has jacked others.

After reading what went on, C. Ailsby's reputation is DOA.

Mongo. Thanks for clarifying the matter. I beleive it is unanimous in that you are indeed an honourable man. I for one apologize again for letting my feelings get the better of me.
Skynyrd, I know that we got into a minor argument but I don't beleive that we have insulted each other. We expressed our opinions and they were obviously misinterpreted. The truth of the matter is that we are all on the same team and thanks to @&#^%$ CA (this IS an insult)we ended up arguing. On my part I say no big deal and merry Christmas (happy birthday Jesus) to all. Cheers, Rail.

My thank you is to Mr Coates - I believe his persistence in this matter is what brought it to the successfull conclusion it apparently reached. Kudos !!!!!

One must be very careful these days as there are many snakes in this hobby. The longer I am in it the more dirt I find out. It tends to revolve around making money and taking advantage of people. Some use their reputations to rip off folks like in this case. Some will appear to be your friend then they try to stick it to ya with a humped up item. They are stains on this community that need to be removed. In the end they will all answer to a higher power for their crimes and dishonesty.

On the bright side most people are honest and truly enjoy collecting.

Mongo get the Community Service Award. That's the one that seems the best fit.

Seiler:

Just ice was not really done here. I think that no one came out of this feeling good, maybe jsut relieved that it's over.

The worst thing is that CA gets to keep his ill gotten gains. His reputation may suffer in the short term and those of us with long memories will now know enough to steer clear of him, but time will wash away his stains and he will continue to prey on newbies, after all he is a published and 'knowledgeable' 'expert'.

Merry Christmas to all... I hope that everyone out there sleeps well.

John

Service Award is well deserved, a small token for a lot of agravation, finger pointing and cost to him in reputation and money. Most people feel stung at lossing $10.he took it on the chin for a lot more.It looked simple but an international lawsuit may have taken years and the lawyers cost would have eaten away any money for the seller.

And people get upset when a collector has something for sale to the U.S. only! Put the blame on creeps like Ailsby, where it belongs. It seems however, that he, at least, had the intelligence to know that fellow Brit Mongo was the biggest threat.

BTW - sort of an afterthought: Did anyone notice how Ailsby's posts were so poorly phrased with many misspellings? Now that we know his true character, it leads me to wonder is he really authored those books after all.

I have heard it said that Ailsby is dyslexic, so the odd phrasing and spelling might be explained by that.

After reading this saga Mongo did the honorable thing cudos to you.

I was about to email CA about some items he had for sale one for me and the rest for two friends of mine, i'm not a jump on it kinda guy when it comes to buying i like to look around first at my leasure then i read this discussion on WAF and waited to see the outcome. All i can say is i will never buy anything from this CA period and i will stear my friends to do the same reguardless of the item. I don't have a ton of money but a few of my friends do they ask me to look for TR items for them. I ask no commission no fees i just like the hobby and after all isn't that what friends are for.

There are those of us who will remember and word of mouth is damning in this small collecting community.
