I bought this M35 DD helmet last year and the research is now complete from the National archives ,which found one person with that name in the SS . His name is Heinz/Heinrich Schwering and he served with the Totenkopf. The pic`s are a bit fuzzy. Unless we are misreading the documents, it appears that he served at Mauthausen, Sachsenhausen, and Oranienburg, he seems to have got around. You can't see it in the photo too well but he got the SA sports badge. Will try and get all the documents translated to try and learn a bit more about him, which will take a while. Hope you guys like it.

Tony,
That is another great historical helmet. The photo of the original owner makes it that much more desireable and special.
Perhaps someone could write a book on this kind of thing...it would make for very interesting reading. Kelly Hicks devoted a chapter in his latest work, "SS Steel" to just such researched examples and I believe it was very well received by the collecting community.

Tony: Congratulations. A fine helmet with a very nice look to it. The added info about the previous owner is really icing on the cake.

Darryl kindly helped me by resizing the next 2 photos from the research I have done. There are over 50 pages of documents on this soldier, which includes his family backgound for admission to the SS.

That's interesting, Tony. This guy has a real hard-core look, doesn't he? Would appreciate a summary of his career. Shu

Looks the same but it is nearly impossible to tell unless they are sitting side by side.

Very interesting helmet. Well done. Please share the info with us if you have some translations. Was that found in the archives in Berlin?

Tony / Darryl, You have great prominance there and "well done " on your search. Has a uniform man would it be possible to enlarge the bottom of the pic particularly showing Schwering's [ falsch ] breeches in Allgemeine ensemble. Regards,,,,,,,,HOOPER
