I would read it as "G�rtner" (which can be translated into English as "Gardener")

I think ivbaust is closer to being correct. The letter right before the "t" looks exactly like the last letter and that last letter has been translated as an "r". That is where ivbaust comes up with the "r". I don't think there is a "z" either. Ron

Ron, thanks for the support. The third letter and the last one are identical. It�s an "r". The other letters are clear. I�m very sure it is "G�rtner".

Hans - Sturmbannf�hrer - SS Nr. 24020
Heinrich - Oberf�hrer - SS Nr. 148903
Oskar - Untersturmf�hrer - SS Nr. 41016

Heinrich is also listed in the 9.11.44 Dienstaltersliste as a Brigadef�hrer/SS-F�hrg. H.A.
Hans is listed in the 1.10.44 Dienstaltersliste as a Sturmf�hrer/Stab Oa. Nordsee
