Have a look at these two auctions on Epier:

http://www.epier.com/biddingform.asp?1584756

http://www.epier.com/biddingform.asp?1598225

Both daggers are 'stamped' with 23 692 for Jurgen Wagner. Although i guess its hard to tell which seller has copied who here, i was wondering is it possible (outside of this auction) that an SS man could have had and numbered 2 seperate daggers?

It just goes to show the ease in which a dagger can be humped up by stamping some numbers on it, and soooo easy to do. Eek

"Oldmarketplace" has been discussed several times here. Despite their glowing write-ups anything of value always has the caveat:

Please ask all your questions before you bid as ALL SALES ARE FINAL unless item was significantly not as described.

"significantly not as described" ?? What does that mean ?

For this reason alone, I would advise new and intermediate to collectors to avoid ANY auction with this type of wording. You advanced guys can make up your own mind.

The excuse generaly offered to justify this type or wording is that the item is on consignement. Many people sell consigned articles all the time and give a short inspection period.

As for their being two daggers with the same number ..............

The 2nd Boker dagger from the dealer in Alaska was listed on Manion's not too long ago. It's a parts dagger with refurbished parts, "black painted" grip, painted scabbard and a chromed blade. No wonder he does not even show the number!! The Hammesfahr dagger looks good to me.
