I picked this stained glass piece up today......... here's the story: the seller said his father bought a house where a German had resided, in the attic there was a stockpile of German motion pictures / still pictures from WWII, all military related including the "camps", through out the house the father found other articles, a umarked German watch that the "spies" carried etc.

Under the floor boards (in the master bedroom) he said his father found this stain glassed picture. These items were divided up between the siblings and the seller got the stained glass picture. The motion film was sold to a fellow that owned a Circus in the 80's, he mentioned his name....... I tried to buy the picture from him a few months ago but he felt it was valuable and wanted to research it, today he called out of the blue and said he wanted to sell it. I promptly bought it....

Excellent story.... no idea if any of its true.......... as far as the stained glass picture goes.... its interesting (alone) so I bought it without the story.

Any comments or ideas would be appreciated !

Thanks

Jay

I have sinced learned that the writing translates to "Wolves of the Sila SS" as well:

"There was a division called "I lupi della sila" Lupo means wolf and "la sila" is a part of the South of Italy with a big forest where there are still wolves."

Does anyone have anymore info to add or ideas on how I can chase the artist/maker "Wi."

Thanks

I'm sorry I have no idea of how to research the artist but I sure like the glass. Very interesting!
