Hi All,

I was wondering if anyone else has ever seen a reference to the shortage of M36 Chained SS Daggers even during the Third Reich period.

I was talking to a fellow collector about have once read that even at that time, there were some SS Officers that were trying to obtain (upgrade) to the chained version and ran a classified ad (ads) in one of their military publications to in order to purchase one.

I seem to recall having having read this information somewhere in one of the current dagger reference books.

Does anyone know if this was true and where I might find the reference to this possiblility?

Thanks,

Jerry

Jerry, what you say appears to be true. Per "Angolia" in "Daggers, Bayonets & Fighting Knives of Hitler's Germany", pg 63.
It is a reference to an issue of "Das Schwarz Korps" in 1939 where it is said, "numerous advertisements were placed" in Want Ads requesting purchase of the 1936 model dagger.
Hope this helps.

Happy to do it Jerry! I love to do research and I have tons of books, etc. Just wish I had a few extra hours each day to do that!

Great going Lloyd to put your finger on that one! I have the book but wouldn`t have recalled that detail.
