Here's a very rare buckle that I picked up a couple of weeks ago. It's the first I have owned or even seen.

A wonderfully rare "leaders" buckle.

Not at all comfortable that this is purely "forestry" associated though. The RNS had three distinct sections to include forestry (the two others being administration and agriculture).

Instead, I think that this is the "High Leaders" buckle of the RNS !

David

Hi all,

Indeed a super-rare buckle, and congrats on getting it! However, afraid it is after all for an official of the Reichsnhrstand forestry service. Those guys were responsible for the forestry aspect of lands coming under direct administrative control of the service. They had the uniforms of the "Privatfrster", albeit with distinctive insignia until 1938. When the new uniforms were introduced in that year, these too had to wear the Privatfrstdienst uniforms, i.e. the blank Leibriemen buckle. Of the other branches David mentions, "admin" was for the internal administration of the RNS, and agriculture of course the people who did the main job, i.e. devising and implementing ways to assist farmers. I don't think there was a distinctive RNS uniform except for the forestry people. The senior figures would all have been Politische Leiter and worn that uniform. Even Darr is never pictured in any other.

Best regards, Karl
