Really, it's not my favored definition. That is the definition. I took it for granted everyone understood it's content. I was only stating what the document you referred to is about. I didn’t mean anything by it and I don't believe there's a contrary idiomatic definition, because we see so many companies marking their wares in this traditional fashion, no doubt about it. One unfamiliar could take this out of context, which I doubt very seriously. But thinking out loud, one could make an assumption based on what it doesn’t say, just as you inferred too at the end of your 1st paragraph "no offense intended". Again, who knows! Regards,

Craig, any progress concerning the tests?

While I also am interested in seeing if any verifiable tests are made to try and determine the silver content of the chain sets. In the meantime, from a very recent discussion on SS Dagger Forum, where some “old school” fakes were brought into the discussion. I saw another example of a mechanically engraved presentation.

With what I am assuming is a 1950’s precursor (?) to the SA/NSKK “Hühnlein” fakes. Here is another fake engraved signature, in this case that of “Lutze”. Pictured below is the signature part of a presentation line of text on the dagger blade, with other parts of it also showing evidence of engraving. FP

I realy doubt if you'll see much if anything posted by the "opposition" inre. to this subject. It's been exposed for what it is for all to see and I doubt if they want any more discussion on this subject.

I'm not looking to restart the topic. I got a PM from a collector posted from another forum. He was aware of the topic and looking for it (presumably to do some research). But could not find it, and asked me if I knew what had happened to it. I couldn't find the primary discussion, but did find the followup that at least has some of the photos that might be helpful.

The way to test the silver content of the chain is very simple, just use the so called XRF gun wich they used to test the camo helmets with for its elements in paint.
The gun will give you a very precise reading of the material tested within 30 seconds.
I don't know if somebody said this already on this thread, but don't have the time to read all posts .

- even a handheld XRF analyzer is around $10.K! Guess they have 'send out' service.
It probably just tells you if silver is present and not exact content [800,835,900,935,950,990]?

Actually the later versions are even more expensive.
And it will tell you the excact content, this device is VERY precise, I worked with it for one week to test my helmet collection.
