HELLO I got a ring several years ago. The Meuer,21,12,43 ring wears out very much. I think. He wore a copy, and the original kept it. SEAM has 835 marks. If there is not a mark, as for the outside and the inside, distinction with the imitation is difficult. Give me an opinion of all of you. Thank you?

Man that is a great replica. I was about to say it was real with a latent 835 stamp and corrosion might be making it look cast. Even the engraving conforms other than a low r in the Himmler. Thank god I have papers on mine or I would be in panic mode. Regardless it is nice. You might want Mr. Boyle to look at it. This is certainly not run of the mill.

What is so hard about stamping 835 on a genuine ring?

* Zorro,,not that's its hard, but unusual.. Originals weren't content marked,,and the counterfeiters are usually smart enough not to content mark theirs!
*Peichl was a man who worked at the Gahr firm during the war. Gahr being the sole jewelry firm that produced the SS Totenkopf Honor Ring.
Peichl survived the war and started making excellent looking copies of the Honor ring. The rings were one piece construction. Sometimes the rings were blank in the band and sometimes you could even have your name engraved!
I've seen a few and there seems to be a couple different patterns but the style is of the late type ring.. There are imperfections/faults in his rings and if I remember correctly Don once mentioned they were put in on purpose..
Could this ring have been custom made as a postwar replacement for Meuer? It does has the appearance of an old ring, with honest wear,,and thats what makes the ring look so good [at least to me]....
Pink, do you presently wear this ring? daily? , thanks, G.

hello!!Gaspar! ! I never wear the ring. I merely look at this. They usually have the rumor that wore a copy not to lose a ring. Is it true? What kind of case was the reissue of the ring accepted by? thank you

It is an excellent copy Pink!
There were no 'wearing' copies during the war. You got the ring sent to you,,one..
When / if it wore out you could put in a request for a replacement. If I remember correctly you would have to send in the old / worn ring to receive the new one, that is unless you lost it!..
Did they get another box with the new ring? I'd say yes. We must remember that the box was not really important to the SS man, the ring was..To collectors the box is a rare and expensive item. To the SS man it was just a cardboard box the ring came in..I could imagine some probably threw the box out!!

Hi Pink,,sadly most boxes get switched around.. A nice condition box usually gets 'married' to a minty ring! I have seen a reissue ring with a box but theres really no way of saying 100% it came that way after all the years gone by..
So far no documentation on what year rings came with the various different boxes...

I have viewed this ring and sure is nice. One thing that makes me love this ring are things like this that come about. Lastly craig, you say 4 versions of the RING BOXES? Can you supply any photos of the 4 versions? I am looking at one now that is different than others I have seen. Of this ring in question being a copy, what if its not a copy at all? and someone actually marked it with the german mark to just sell it as true SILVER content without knowing what it really was? Just a thought, glad to be back.

I apoligise for bringing this OLD thread back up,but this ring is just an old, i.e,45-50 copy.
Yes it does look nice, good wear and patina, but it is OBVIOUSLY a mundane, one piece construct.
Was it done by an ex, Otto Gahr employee? who cares? if it was, then he knew how to make a mould.
Oh,and his engraving skills? rubbish.
