Definitely a repro. Most likely from Reddick.

I agree with Grumpy.

The maker mark is too far away from the bottom of the blade too.

I have asked for photos but am yet to receive them.

What can you tell from a Blade scan? Also for the people who cant tell (like myself) what are the characteristics of a Reddick Blade. The only thing pointed to is that the MM is to far a way from the edge of the blade?

Bob,

That is the only thing I know about the Reddick blades too - the maker mark is too far away from the tang.

I am sure there are other differences that folks know about.

Having said that, let me state my humble opinion on these Reddick blades.

He made a damn fine blade!

These Reddick blades are becoming collectors items in their own right. I am sure some folks will jump on me and disagree with that, but I truly believe that. They used to be easier to find - not any longer.

Hi Borse
Thanks for the help. I was just hoping to get some detailed info for those who can tell rather just saying its fake. That way we all learn and reduce the risk of getting burned.

Everything is wrong on this Himmler inscription and it ain't even close to an original one.
The most obvious "give a way" is the DOT on the "i" in the name Himmler.
Every time you see this, it is 100% FAKE ! Wink

OK. The tm is way too far from the shoulders. The inscription does not match the originals. Patrice is "right on" regarding the dotted "i." Notice the grinding on the tang at the shoulder area. Not seen on originals. If you held it in one hand and an original in the other, you would notice the fake is slightly smaller in most respects. The same for the motto etch. You would also see the quality of the steel and finishing, although quite good, do not come close to those of the original. The immediate tip-off is the position of the tm. You could stop right there. The dotted "i" is a "backup" tip-off (as if one were needed). There's really no reason to go further with an examination. It is a noticeable fake, even at first glance.

ConfusedSOLD FOR $1025-00 WHERE DO THESE FOOLS COME FROM? I PURCHASED A COUPLE FROM REDDICK A FEW YEARS BACK JUST TO SEE THE VARIATION IN THE ETCH TO A KNOWN ORIGINAL. THINK I PAID AROUND $50-00 EA. APPROX.

I owned one of thoes blades before. They are not made of the same carbon steel. The Repos are a mild soft steel easily bent. There is also ejector pin marks on the tang. Thus this was made in a diecast process. Also the etching was slightly off center from the blade ridge. The Eickhorn logo was not exact to the orignals.

I emailed the seller and told "her" that it was a post war reproduction and why that was the case. I never received a response. Why anyone would spend this kind of money without checking the item out first is beyond me.
I considered reporting the item to Ebay as counterfit which can be done but decided against it.
