Gents,
A lady picked this up from an estate sale; I'm just not sure, but everything seems correct for an early Allgemeine-SS General Officer's visor. Chin cord knots have proper aluminum supports. Rhomboid is yellowed celluloid. Leatherette (?) is very delicate and shows correct wear. Don't think there is an RZM tag behind it; I just donj't want to damage the sweatband. Underside of visor has the "RZM" and "SS" (right side to the wearer). Hopefully these are not too large. Otherwise I'll need someone to give me a hand.

Thanks, Kris. Here is the front. It is misshapen a bit, but the central vertical seam is a 90 degree off the cap band.

Another picture of the front under the sweatband---she took off the skull to take a picture of it---that didn't come out...

This is of the left side. The chin cord is correctly constructed, and shows good patina, but it hard to see that here. I'll take some of my own later.

Here's a close up of the "RZM" "SS". I really don't want to look for a cloth tag because the sweat band is so fragile.

Guess my reply to your questions didn't get posted first time around. The lining is silk or silk-like materal. Yes, the cap band is velvet

I think the cap is post war creation. The sweat protection diamond looks very soft and flexible, the insignias looks suspicious and the rzm stamp under the visor doesnt look good IMHO.

from the title I guess you have very little into this cap..From the photos it doesn't really look so bad.. Post some shots of the eagle / skull for the members to check out. If they are good, and even if the caps a Frankenstein your probably going to be way ahead!

Actually, the sweat shield is very inflexible and yellowed. As for the rzm stamp, I guess I don't know what I should be seeing wrong there.

The skull looks bad from the picture provided....the eagle has prospects for being okay.

I got two original black Gen. visor caps in my hands since I collect and both got the same details. I doubt this visor cap very much, just the piping doesn't look right for me and the whole shape. This are just my 5 cents to it.
