As to authenticity, I can't say. I think they represent Civil. They don't look like DLV wings.

It's in Vol.2, 'Orders, Decorations, Medals & Badges of the 3d Reich' by Littlejohn/Dodkins, pictured on p.27, its an SA Flying Branch Badge, name is "SA Flugzeugorter Abzeichen". Don't know if yours is original or not.

Schlicht/ Angolia "Uniforms and Traditions of the Luftwaffe" Vol 1 page 38 list that as a SA Observer's wing.
Always looking for Heeres Beamte (HV) and Sonderfuhrer items. Insignias, paperwork, photo's......

Good information and glad for the correction. SA passed my thoughts because of the red center and something in the back reaches of my mind but I wasn't sure enough. Would there be any pictures of a known orig. anyone can post? How about the other badges, pilot?
Did civil flight personel wear cloth or just the metal wings? Have seen the winged swas. were there others?

Hi Joe
I scaned these out of Schlicht/ Angolia "Uniforms and Traditions of the Luftwaffe" Vol 1 page 38. A little info that is listed there:
Pilot's badge:
"...The length of the wings measures 80mm, hand-embroidered on a "sky-blue" wool background. It should be noted that the difference between the badge of the SA and the DLV is the former has 5 rows of feathers and the DLV has 4...."
Observers badge "...the term encompassed any aircrew member other than a pilot. The badge was the same as the Pilot's badge, except that the circle surrounding the swaz is red with silver dots, and the lenght of the wings was much shorter.......on some the background is sometimes kakhi rather than the "sky-blue'....."

The problem is origanality? If original, then 125.00 would be in the ball park. That is what I would give top line.
