It appears to meet all I expect to see in one of these weight should be 19.2 gm . Yours appears to be unissued.

Thanks Paul. this is not my badge but one that is offered for sale. The seller seems to have some items that appear good & other stuff that I would question so I didn`t know what to make of this piece.

Let me start by saying . . . I am in NO way an expert and thus I'm hesitant to say anything, but I have my doubts about this particular clasp. Now, the pictures are not particularly good so that may be the problem but . . . the first thing I question is does it look like it's made from zinc? To me it looks more like a non-zinc metal. Second, while it is trying very hard to look period, I would want to see better pictures of both the eagle's head and the pin/clasp assembly as both appear misshapen to me. I would also like to see better/brighter photos of the maker's mark. Finally, as Paul has already indicated, I would like to know the weight of this badge.

These are a relatively rare, yet highly faked badges . . . usually with big price tags . . . for that reason it took me a long time to find one that I felt confident with. Sorry . . . but I hope this helps. ~ Ian

As Ian states, look for zinc base metal.

I do not feel comfortable with what I see in regard to the condition. It looks like it was made yesterday so in all probability it was.

This is the problem with sellers that have dodgy items intermingled with genuine stuff. You just never know. Better to miss a bargain than get burned again!
