Some blade on that my friend, difficult to judge paint from a photo, but it looks consistent with the rest of the dagger, wouldn't give me problems as I see it, nice score, you will want more now you know Big Grin

Thanks for the nice compiments! Myself and seller (owned it for 2 years) also believe in the period paint.
I did forget to take reverse pics but it is the same as the obverse.

Thanks
Brian

Very nice first dagger Brian.
Looks to be an RZM piece. (Or is it Transitional?)

Good looking blade.
Do you have a pic of the mark?
Plenty of crossgrain throughout with a beautifully dark motto background. (Perfect for display!)

Show us some shots of the upper hilt, and the scabbard to crossguard fit.

Congratulations on a great starter piece.
Nolan is right you know.
You have the disease now.
Just sit back and let the addiction take hold.

Best Regards,
Robert

Thanks All.
Daggerob- lol. I spend countless hours a day on the net searching & reading!

Nats- I understand that there are a lot in this shape due to them being made later in the war/ less field use. My next will be an early model.

I have received my VCI (Vapor Corrossive Inhibator) bags yesterday afternoon and have the dagger and scabbard sealed up in two different ones. So I'm not up to unwrapping them to take more pics as of yet. I do have a pic of the makers mark that the seller took. The lower x-guard and scabbard meets as they should with very good radii

Thanks my friend. I was thinking of going over it with simichrome- what do you think?

I'm a little nervious about it because I've never used it and I do not want to hurt the motto burnishing or crossgraining.

Thanks
Brian

Normal runner marks do not reduce the value of a dagger.

Congratulation to a very nice dagger.
I would have done absolutly notthing to that one, it´s just fine as it is.
As several other members here have pointed out, you will soon feel the need for more daggers.
To collect these, are like drugs, you must have more.
So my tip is simple: Get out while you can!
Sell that( i will take it), and forgett about the hole exsperience.......

Best Regards

That dagger has an elegantly sleek (slim appearing) grip. It is nice! Are slimmer grips a characteristic of Holler dagger or is it just the photos? Nice SA. Charlie

Charlie-

Thanks for the compliments and I have no idea about Hollers characteristics! I'm a noobie... Maybe someone else can answer that for you.
