Gentlemen,

Can anyone please tell me, if this large oval Eickhorn trademark is rare or not ? Confused
We almost always see the small trademark and the only large oval that we usually accounter, are on Rohm blades.

Pat, they are harder to find. I have owned 1 that came out of the woodwork. They may be a little more desirable but really does not add much more value.

NICE dagger!

The large Eickhorn SS daggers are much rarer than the standard type. They bring a higher value.

I have seen very few Large oval SA's. JR Picked one up at the Max that I was admiring - which was the first one I saw in a while.
I think that I see more of the Large oval SS Daggers than the SA's.
Especially nice to see one in this condition Pat! Eek Nice score!

BTW, Is it Bench Marked? The Large oval's usualy are.

Best Regards,
Scott R.

Pat:

Very nice. Looks kinda familiar. I think I saw something like this at JRs table at the MAX.

Super dagger Pat! The large oval smooth tail Eickhorns are scarce. The large oval serrated tail Eickhorns are very scarce.

Nice "smooth Tail" Pat. Smile
Although not rare but it is scarce IMO.

Jesper's I'm afraid is the 3 eared Czech Smooth tail.

These large oval Eickhorns are typically found with a Wf Gau stamp.. I have only seen a couple that weren't. One was an Ns and one I think was He.

Interesting, I didn't know !
Thanks for the info.
Still very strange that the large oval Eickhorns are typically found with the Wf Gau mark.

Not so strange really. Solingen is located in the North Rhine Westphalia region of Germany. If these large oval Eickhorns are among the very earliest of the mass production SA daggers, and I believe they are, then the Gau distribution system was also at an early stage. It makes sense that the earliest daggers were distributed more or less locally to Gau Wf. Note also that the other two daggers I have seen with Gau Ns and He are in regions located directly adjacent Westphalia.
