i have been offered, by e-mail, this "ss armband", does anyone have an opinion based upon this one pic as to it`s originality?. if it looks a dud on first glance, i`ll take my interest no further, but if it looks like it may have a chance i`ll take it further.

thanks in advance. Wink

I'm not an expert on SS armbands, but I don't understand how you can tell anything without clear, closeup photos.

EVEN WITH THE POOR IMAGE, IT IS APPARENT THAT THE MATERIALS USED ARE NOT THOSE FOUND ON AN ORIGINAL EXAMPLE

I must need glasses, because it's hard to tell what materials they are. It appears to be wool, but I'm still not sure.

just as an aside , there are two of these in the sale. this is the second one, again , according to the description, made of wool, RZM tag.

THE SECOND ARMBAND APPEARS TO BE CORRECT. HOWEVER, THE IMAGE IS NOT THE BEST. THE MAJORITY OF SS ARMBANDS HAVE A SLIGHTLY OVAL WHITE DISC. HOWEVER, ORIGINAL PERIOD ONES ARE FOUND WITH A ROUND OVAL.

just an update. i`ve had both these armbands `in hand` for the first time this morning. and the construction, materials etc are identical between the two. the white RZM tags on each have the letter "F", has this any relevance?.
both the white disks appear oval in shape, and the stitching and construction appears good to my untrained eye. anyone have any further thoughts. the auction is tomorrow, saturday, i`m going along anyway, do i bid??.....help!!.

hmmmm, do these have the letter `F` on the tag as a matter of course?. having had them in hand they look the real deal, i`m not discounting anyone`s opinons, real or fake. i`m torn over these.

I would think it very uncommon to find an F coded tag in this type of armband..

That is a type of tag one would expect to see on a collar tab of more elaborate construction.

Any close up pics of the arm bands or tags?

WELL, PICTURES DO NOT ALWAYS TELL THE WHOLE TRUTH. A LATER WOOL SS ARMBAND WITH PAPER SS RZM TAG SHOULD HAVE A "D" CODE, NOT "F." I CONCUR THAT THIS IS A BIG RED FLAG.

just a final word on the armbands. even though i was sure to about 90 something percent that they were real, i didn`t bid. the B/D/F letter thing, put enough doubt at the back of my mind to make me hold off.
but thanks for all your help and advice guys. much appreciated!. Cool

Looks like I'm the new owner of band #2. Here is a close up, so please lets hear your opinions one more time.

I know that letter F is to high but does that mean that tag is fake?

THE RZM TAG IS DEFINITELY A FAKE. THE RED MATERIAL IS COURSE AND NOT LIKE THAT FOUND ON ANY PERIOD EXAMPLE I HAVE EVER SEEN. IN MY OPINION, THIS IS A FAIRLY WELL MADE FAKE.
