I recently picked up this helmet.
M40
Large Q68/61
This has nice spray of Greens and Reds.
Colors are better in hand.
First pattern shield shows a lot of wear.
Named to SS Uscha Holter

Just a beautiful untouched rare Camo helmet.

Matt,
So now I know who beat me out of that puppy. I had made a pretty strong offer on it myself. I love that helmet. The Camo pattern and wear is just super. A great combat seasoned SS lid.

I did a quick Google search on Uscha Holter
I did get a hit on a Uscha Karl Holter from the Norwegen Unit.

After discussing this breifly with Erik Wibourg I feel its highly unlikely this is the guy.
He saw service when the Unit was activated was, an older man and did not serve after the unit was broken up in 43.
Unlikely an American serviceman picked the helmet up in Norway also pretty common name.
I will keep looking.

Altough I'm not in SS-helmets this one is a great camohelmet. Extra bonus is the handpainted rank of "Unterscharführer" (Uscha) and the name "Holter".
Congrats.

I like that helmet too...a wonderful and classic "Q", made even nicer by the addition of the very subtle camo colours. Matt, I conducted a name search on the German war graves site and came up empty for both Holter and Halter. I suppose the owner could have survived the war.

Cheers,

Darryl

Thanks Darryl
Lets hope he did.....

The thing that appeals to me so much about this helmet is the rareity of SS Camo helmets.
I have been chasing Camo for a long time and this is the first one I have ever found and had a chance to buy.
The original ones I know of I can pretty much name off the top of my head.
When one comes out of the woodwork like this its pretty exciting.

Wow, I didn't know what was going on here. Well, I saw it at Max but the camo colors looked less vivid then under the roof. It looks a lot beautiful now under the sun. Congratulations!

I thought I would bring this to the top.
I am considering offering this helmet up for trade.
I really like the lighter color Normandy camo's and tropicals.

If you have an absolute killer untouched camo helmet that you think is worthy of consideration for trade or trade/cash contact me.

My e-mail address is

Thanks Matt
