I am not sure how to start this, I am mainly a dagger guy and was given this item for Christmas. I am not going to go into provenance now as I think an item like this MUST be judged solely on the item and NOT any kind of story. This thing Screams Original to me, but I am NO Expert in headgear of any kind. Please take Very close looks at all the pictures and tell me what you think of this.

IS IT WHAT I THINK IT IS?

IS THERE A POSSIBILITY IT IS REAL?

Photos follow shortly!

Thanks, RG88

hat is a reproduction,,,Robert
Hi Robert,

Many Thanks for your Opinion! Could you Please explain a little further why you came to the conclusion you did? RG88
i have the same hat as this,,,this is reproduction of AH's hat before he assumed total control of military or should be more precise,,before he started wearing the field grey of the Wehrmacht,,,i may be able to post pics of my cap a little later,,camera needs repair,,,i am still using film slr for my postings,,, Frown Robert
The cap is a reproduction from the late 60's early 70's..

Over all the cap is sloppy in production techniques, and used the incorrect grade of material for a private purchase hat of this type.

The real giveaway is the lining and sweatband, and of course the 'A H' on either side of the adler, denoting Mr.Hitler.

Kind of cool to get a gift like this, as most likely none of us will ever be able to afford one of Hitlers real visor caps. One sold about 10 years ago and the asking price was well over $150,000, sold to a private collector from Germany.
I concur that the cap is a fake. I would date it mid to late 70's though. The interior lining is not what one would expect in a period hat. The sports organization eagle makes no sense. The quality of the material used for the hat itself is not of either a style or quality one would expect to find on a period hat. The white piping glows even without a blacklight. Finally, Hitler never wore a hat in this color & insignia combination with the brown tunic, which of course is prewar. All you can say about this piece is the price was right.
