Got a call this afternoon in response to one of my ads.

Nice M44 Japanese rifle, bayonet and two swords all in the original mail back box from the Father of the guy selling me the stuff.

Need to clean the gun up some, but overall good shape with the MUM.

Swords are nice to me, but I am not a Japanese sword expert. the longer of the two has interesting fullers on the blade? one side has a double fuller for the first 1/3 of blade, but other side has a single fuller for same distance? Any help on swords would be appreciated.

Not sure if they are from same owner or not, they have the same blueish wrap on the grips.

nice find dont find these send home boxes any more filled with goodies. from what i see the t-44 japanese rifle with folding bayonet appears to look in tact plus you have an extra bayonet for another japanese rifle . the swords you have a katana and a wakizashi both are family mounted swords one blade shows bo-hi groves which is intresting most of these japanese swords have koto blades in them . i see the wooden pegs have been removed from the handles are the blades signed or dated let us know with your next pictures again great find best of luck to you thanks for showing us guys here god bless andy militarynut

Well with a lot of work and help from a great forum member, was finally able to get them apart.

First the shorter sword, looks like makers name on tang and or date, if someone can help out here I would appreciate it,

Now the longer sword, no makers mark I can see on tang, but Tsuba has writing on it?

Any help appreciated.

glad i could help you to get the handles off your two japanese swords from what i can see is the wakizashi blade is signed and dated sorry i can not read it sure wish bob coleman was here i think he is still on waf forum but if you want any one to help read your blades you have to picture with point of sword in upward position and fill in some more powder in the signitures in my opinion i say the wak blade is probly in the vicinity of year 1500s and probly listed in hawleys book of all the sword smiths of japan he could be a popular smith and then he could be a 15 point smith no biggie but still old blade japanese blades are old if they are befor year 1600s also show him the signed stuba thats in my opinion 1600s and iron now the longer blade appears to have been fitted three times in its life and the japanese nipped the tang to fit the furniture no big deal this blade might be in the 1800s not old sure hope i helped a little its my pleasure to help our members if i can hope you agree have a nice day andy militarynut
