Original, WW2 NCO sword!
THE FAKING OF THESE SWORDS IS A RECENT EVENT.
BOB
I must agree with Bob.The fakes are recent but dangerously devious. I believe yours is original.from what I understand the black iron fittings are of late war production.I have heard that contrary to popular belief, some late war blades can be made by genuine sword smiths!!!perhaps someone can help shed some insight.
Thanks a lot for the info,I really appreciate it.I know my brother has had this at least 30 years maybe closer to 40,how did I do on the price on a sword in this condition? Smile

GEOFF-
I HAVE ONLY SEEN ONE NCO SWORD WITH A HAND FORGED TRADITIONAL BLADE. IT WAS MOUNTED IN EARLY MOUNTS I AM SURE THIS WAS PRIVATE PURCHASE. IT WAS NOT SIGNED AND POOR QUALITY WORK.
BOB
Thanks for your comments guys,I knew where to post it for info Wink,I worried it might be a chinese fake, didnt know, brother said if I found out it was a fake he would trade back, think I will keep it!!!
Bob,I must agree with with you.I have recently found a piece, granted not an NCO piece, but a late war sword with black iron fittings, lacquered Ito,and a chocolate brown rough textured Saya.I have posted it as "Tang translation needed"I have always heard that these late war blades were of inferior quality. This blade has an unusual curvature, and a polishers marks.Much different from the other swords of this nature I have. The tang markings are also different. For lack of a better term, they are more "Swirly" I would like your opinion.Best wishes ,Geoff.
