I had missed the stamping under the crossguard prior to my first response.

Bitburg,

Your sword is a generic Imperial Officer Sword. These plain dove hilts are generally called polished (Glatter) swords. The Crown/W would indicate that it was an item of issue.

I'm not quite sure just what this is. I really can't see what the marking actually is - so there tis a bit of a mystery there. From what very little I can see it doesn't look TR - but does not really seem correct for the Imperial era either. So Weimar? Foreign contract? With a personalization?

Attached - the stamping on the pommel cap of a Kriegsmodell IOD 89 (f�r Unteroffizier mit Portepee).
