Just wanted to share this with people in the know, i was just going to post pics and see the fireworks... Before i give the story i will first share what i can tell you about the actual sword. It is really well made, i wish i could post better pics and more. Blade, guard, pummel, scabbard tip and top all really well done damascus steel, all the way thru and inside, no etching, i know i have a decent collection of other damascus blades. I took it apart and there are NO makers marks that i could see just 3 punches on each piece to line them up. Everything fits really well together and is very straight. Anyways no such swords exist right? Well obviously i have one so they must. I can tell you that 1) I acquired it from a very reputable source with the understanding that 2) It is from germany ww2 era 3) it was made in germany by a german. However i do not have the documentation i really need to back this up but i know it is out there. I was hoping some of the more knowledgeable people on here would see if they could take a look and guide me the right way. I have reached out to the big guys, T and W but seems they are always travelling :P So the story i have is this is one of the winners of the Reichsberufswettkampf, national vocational competition where the first few years only youths, the later adults competed until the war started, then once during the war. I am sure there is a pic somewhere of the winner if this is the case. Anyways just throwing this out there, im pretty happy with my sword, i paid what i would have for a regular Luft sword but its not. Thanks for reading

That is a new one for me. I've seen many Damascus blade but never an edged weapon with all the fittings of Damascus steel.

The members on here are very good at what they do and have more experience then me so you should listen to them. I might get slammed for stating this. IMO and I very well could be wrong. It looks right for the period. I did this and they confirmed mine was original. Send your pictures to Solingen. The President is a master, they will tell you either way. And maybe have info or can point you in the right direction or publication. Thank you.

karl mullers father made the damascus for the ww1 period swords called maiden hair then his son sorry forgot his first name mullers son expermented with what he called four band turkish demascus he also wirked in dacau camp producing four band turkish damascus ss letter openers for reichsfuhrer heinrich himmler i owned probly five of these letter openers of fifty years and getting back to this damascus sword in my honest opinion its a great looking copy also before i forget in all my years at looking at swords letter openers and himmlers gifts not one that i examined over the years was blank like tis sword is all had mullers name and damask on the tang hope every body agrees god bless andy militarynut

I took the photo of the Paul Muller's Turkish Damascus Luft Sword on the cover of TJ's Vol. III, 2nd Edition. As I remember his had no scabbard. I'm not sure if there was anything written on the blade. We did not take it apart. I have never seen another full Damascus Luft sword until yours. There are several construction differences between them besides the blades. I have no idea of whether one is original, neither or both. There are several highly respected Damascus collectors in the hobby who could help identify the maker.

Very nice workmanship in this sword.
Just guessing, maybe some apprentice made this if it is totally unmarked?

thats a good posibilty that a school apprentise made the sword but im sorry i just dont like the workmanship especially take a good look ar the sun wheel swaz that is not damascus in my trained eyes and the over fifty years experence at looking at real damascus swords daggers etc wish i had better news sorry no cigar god bless all you guys andy militarynut
