I hope that the sword experts here can help with a more complete identification of this sword...

It is an Italian marine sword, of that I am pretty sure. It also appears to be of 20th century manufacture (finishing is not good enough for the 19th)

But how can I tell that it is WW2 period?

There is only very limited information to be found online on the Italian WW2 marine at the moment...

It has all the accoutrements, so hopefully that will help.

I've seen them before and WW2 I think is a good estimate - the blade etching might help narrow down the possibilities. Best Regards, Fred

Herman, I was hoping to see in the etching an indicator of the Naval Coat of Arms of the time which is distinctive that would put it in or before WWII. But I don't see it one way or the other. With my Thanks for adding the images, I'm sorry that I was not successful. Best Regards, Fred
