Hello to all

Here is a Heer sword with what appears to be a leather grip ...

Seems to be an Alcoso sword ... do you know which model ?

Have you ever encountered that before? Do you think this could be period? It doesn't look messed with ... strange item ...

Many thanks for your informations

Briac

IMHO the handle from the "Pack & Sohne" is married with Alcoso. The grip was repaired with new leather.

Erring on the side of caution - with no additional pictures like the top of the pommel, my guess also is that the handle which may have had damage was then leather wrapped. Best Regards, Fred

Vat is correct, the hilt is Pack made,so looks like the blade was switched .

I must say whoever put it together did a great job. On the side of caution I must note that when it comes to German swords the makers were quite liberal with the use of generic or other makers parts. I don't think that is the case here but it is really a nice combination and I bet it would have been a big seller during the Third Reich. I would love to see the pommel.

I had Don Swanson re-wrap a sword grip using leather and he did a outstanding job. I tried doing it myself but it was beyond my skill set. I'm not sure if he is still doing this kind of work.
