Terrible Eickhorn TM. Grip fused in the center line length of the grip. Very strange. I'm nearly 100% certain this is garbage, and a new generation of fake junk from the Orient. Like I said, never seen this piece before. Note the nickel plated scabbard. We'll have to see what happens with this one, and if more pop up in the future. Don't let this rare bird slip by

Super nice

Yep, these are part of the latest batch of "Chinese" fakes. I have noticed they have flooded ebay recently. Much better repops than the earlier bunch which were overly aged and of indistinct style and pattern.

2 part fused grip. Sans grip wire.

Eickhorn TM as well as an "SSS" etched mark below the reverse lange.

I guess that 'SSS' stands for Super Schutz Staffel, the super powered Aryan guards.

It was suggested by a member on another forum that this is a reproduction Bulgarian Royal dress saber. The member explained the dedication reads "FOR THE KING AND FATHERLAND" and a cipher of King Boris the 3rd.

no doubt about the sword is horrible reproduction of Bulgarian Royal sword:
1- the dedication is in Bulgarian language and reads FOR THE KING AND FATHERLAND
2- the cipher of King Boris the 3rd is on the blade.

If you try a surch in this forum for Bulgarian sword you can see many photoes of the original

Thank you for the follow up. It's a good bit of information to know.

It's interesting that whoever manufactured this reproduction saber, be it the Chinese, the Indians or someone in the former Soviet republics, chose to reproduce such an obscure sword. I can't imagine a huge demand for legitimate, period Royal Bulgarian Officer dress sabers. They are so obscure that many of us had no idea what kind of sword the reproduction was supposed to be. It's just interesting. It also makes me wonder how many of these reproductions were manufactured. They pop-up on fLeeBay from time to time and generate no interest.

Parts of the saber are actually part way decently manufactured. Clearly the hilt assembly is a cast reproduction. That said, it's not a terrible looking reproduction like the hideous Chinese Asian-esque "German" lionheads which have been floating around the auctions for about 10 years.

On a side note, I've seen some of the white gripped Chinese lionhead swords in recent months. Still the horrible design similiar in that of the earlier black gripped lionheads, though perhaps a notch or two better. I guess they were going for some sort of KM stylized saber.

I also haven�t answer why they reproduced the Bulgarian royal swords. I�m fully agree with Tom that these swords are exceptional, not so popular among the collectors and due to these facts are not very expensive. My own opinion is that the Bulgarian swords are under very beautiful and well made � all German production, but under value.
Apart of these horrible reproductions which you can recognize from a mile, I have mentioned that they become clever and inventive.

It�s a thousand pities but they destroyed a nice and original sword and than they make compilation of the original parts and reproduction pars two or three swords. For example � original blade, but horrible cast grip you can see here. http://cgi.ebay.com/EXTREMELY-RARE-WWII-...=item45f468b726

I collect mainly Bulgarian daggers but I have some Bulgarian swords and if you want I can share with you my modest collection.

Thank you for the explanation. I for one do not collect Bulgarian dress sabers so even the legitimate examples are "foreign" to me...no pun intended. I'm glad you took the time to share with us some information about these piece. We had a side discussion on another forum regarding various reproduction sabers, and these Bulgarian reproduction pieces were mentioned (by me).

If this guy you linked to, and is who i'm thinking it is, means he's from either in Russia or one of the Caucasus. It's the same seller who peddles his garbage on gunbroker. He has a slough of garbage purported to be Imperial Russian, with intrinsic historical value. In his auctions, i've seen go so far as to name individual Russian officers of significant rank. All rubbish. He's a crook and a scammer, and in general a dirt-bag. God only knows how many Eastern Europeans have been hosed by his garbage.

These pieces are not horrid like their Chinese counterparts...infact it's quite a quite attractive piece. Heer sabers in general have been insulated by virtue of the overwhelming number of proprietary patterns and variations which were produced. If for example, we were to see a flood of Eickhorn Prinz Eugen pattern sabers hit the various sales medium, that would be stron indicator something is wrong. Even if a surplus of PEs hit the Eastern European markets, those in the west would hear about it. Fortunately the English speaking language forums have a large membership from around the world and do share information. This seller sells it all- from desperately poor- to part-way decent.

Anyway, thank you again Pesho. I enjoyed the discussion and am happy you were able to jump in and provide some insight on these things.
