Imho the absolutely nicest Hirschfänger mit Hoheitszeichen (hunting dagger with national emblem) is the one by CLEMEN & JUNG.
Yes, I know, there is a wrong troddel attached (the one which would be used with a shooters ass. dagger) but it did come to me this way and therefore I let it his way. Even more as I do have proper spare portepees.
Regard.

I don't really collect forestry or hunting items and this isn't an edged blade but a flag I've just picked up not too long ago. Double sided about 5ft x 8ft and with separately applied pieces.

One out of a household, with the ultrarare forest green "Ost" cufftitle. Most collectors never have seen nor heard of it. I have also the certain shoulder boards and the collar tabs (the uniform jacket went to time) but these are not in the pic. In the "wearing-" pic you can see exactly this cutlass to be worn.

Its the hallmark of Eduard Foerh, the Royal court jeweler of stuttgart 1835-1904
Its a 13 Lot, that means 13 of 16 part silver, that would make this one being 812.5 / 1000 silver

The Innsbruck cup; The marks are German. Do you know the maker? Can't see it very clear, maybe Hermann Konejung or C. Well, but it's only a guess. What is the mark above the 800 silver content mark? Very nice, Thank you in advance.

Gerrit,
Wow you take great closeups. As you probably already know the cup was made in Germany, Cresent moon, Crown, silver content mark 800 and the makers marks and as I thought a Austrian import mark used 1901-1921. My guess is JH. a hammer and a pick. I'll see what I can find. Thank you

Dave,
Thank you for the help. Very nice maker mark! Unfortunately not the marks we are looking for. Quite a few makers used crossed hammers..Fortunately we have a combination of both of this makers registered trade marks in two forms which he was allowed to use. Lets keep searching.

From a similar mark on the the Internet:

"An old copy of Diebener's Deutscher Goldschmiede-Kalender for 1925 lists this crossed hammer mark as that of C. Well of Berlin, manufacturer of flatware & small table silver, they were probably successors to Gebr. Petersfedlt of Berlin, who registered the mark in 1894 (but had been using it from 1882) "

Dave, Thank you. C. Well was one of my guesses as well until I saw the close up of the makers mark in letter form. No match to C.Well. I believe we will find this maker.

Dave,

A few makers used crossed hammers with some variation of course as well as some adding a combination of both forms of maker marks. Ours is as well a combination of both types of registered trade marks. The trade mark in letter form is what we want to key in on imo. Match it and we more than likely found our maker as long as they used crossed hammers. I believe its the stylized letters JH, or possibly JFH. Tell me you see the F as well! lol

Thx Ed for the nice words.
Im a Pack lover, i cut down a bit on my collection, i had 25 Packs, but sold the doubles, no i have 19 Packs, all differ in handwork, scabbard, grip etc, i have 10 slants, 6 early type 2 aluminium ones , and of course the 3 different Type 3 variaties.
So what is seen are almost all Packs wink with 2 exceptions: an early Puma slant (mint with unique guard) and a Klaas with silvered alu Pack type 2 fittings ( totally Pack fitted, including scabbard)

Hello Gerrit

I agree with Ed on a wonderful display you are showing!

Very nice layout!

Yes I agree on army daggers like Ed states, you must show them in dagger section!

Now on to the other superb items!

The flag or banner is a beauty! Tell us about it!

The weight of these because of material used always worried me!

Very difficult to display because of stress but you have done well!

I don't have a full understanding of Hunting and Forestry stuff but must admit they are eye catching!

Uniform and all the items are a time capsule for sure!

Any info on who it belonged too?

Thanks for sharing and taking time to let us explore the beauty of your display!

Thx PVON for the nice words, im working on a complete overview of all types that E.Pack made from 1935 up untill the last Type 3 in light weight alu-zink cast.
I'm missing 1 type of feather enhancement on a type 1, and the second logo on a aluminium type 2, if i got them covered ( i know the 2 gents that have them in their collection) then i might publish-post the E.Pack complete army daggers history.
Until then im patiently waiting wink

The Flag is a bavarian vet. Flag from the mid 20ths.
On the other side it has a huge EK 1 in the middle, its 120x105 cm so pretty large.
Underneath it is a Eickhorn IOD by eickhorn in damast with raised golden letters.
This sword was presented to him by the 4. Kompanie der 5.Lothringisches IR 144 as a memorial of his Kompanie when he got the command of the 8. Kompanie of the 5. Lothr.IR144 ( listed on 08 nov 1915)

Very nice porcelain you show, I do like those Rosenthal stags, I have a couple of them in the white and monochrome, I'm yet to find one similar to your colouring that shows no damage, there tough to find in mint condition, much cheaper than Allach but just as nice.

Very nic Baz

So much shown has made this topic a winner!

Here is something I showed before and Bill Warda made the folling comment!

I had bought from Andy! Military Nut!

The German Buffalo Bill it looks like!

PVON

Paul,

Our dear old friend Andy has been having a definite "hot-streak" as of late, he's really turning up the goods. In all sincerity it couldn't happen to a finer gentleman, steady as the Rock of Gibralter.

That has to be one of the finest shooting-related photos I've ever seen, it's very unusual to see an example in full color. There are some fantastic decorations displayed on the man's jacket, an unimaginable array for us shooting enthusiasts.

All topped off with a first class beer stein that belonged to him, too. That's defintely the icing on the cake! Great early depiction of the shooter's logo, it looks like a well-executed painting under the glaze. Congratulations on adding these very nice Schtzen pieces to your collection and thanks for sharing them here on the forum.

Best!

Andy was at it a very long time. The amount of piece he's turned up is staggering. Many were just sold at the SOS and the remainder of his pieces including items from his personal collection will be offered at the MAX at a 'all must go' sale,,,so make a decent offer and you'll get it!

Gary,,, what is that bear made of? wood? bone? or ?

Gaspere,

The bear is made of wood, these things were made in the Black Forest region of Germany, typically in Bavaria, most are made from pine and are very light, this one is probably from the 1920's give or take 10 years either way, they are made to this day as tourist pieces, I have a few other Black forest carvings of wild boars which are quite common, I stick to the smaller pieces, some can be up to 6' tall. I also like the Bronze stags as well. The Bronzes are mostly by either by Karner or Fritz Diller.

Stunning Stuff gents, just eyecandy!

i wanted to add my latest addition, a hunting set made of banddamst by Gebrüder Kellner Wien. (Vienna)
The Geb.Kellner took the Geb. Maurer business over in 1880, and i guess this set will be made in the 1890-1910 period.
Nice to see that the Vienna maker used Toledo banddamast for this hunting dagger, as we all know that Sheffield, Solingen and Toledo all produced their own banddamast, most have been a good priced piece of damast wink
the grips is made of ivory instead of stag (looking at the horizontal grain of the skinners gripplates, similar to the senior Forestry grips and the background is died- painted black for contrast.
The leather work is also a true piece of art, it has a wooden frame and the top of the skinnersknife bay is covered with red vilt to protect the grippplates.
The banddamast pattern is in mimt comdition and realy makes it an eyecatcher.
the carvings on the grips well what can i say? a piece of art?
Enjoy this beauty!

Regards
Ger

Thx Gents, sometimes the simple elegant daggers like this one, the ones that in hand have the better over those "Prunk" Deluxe Hirschfängers.
I love it, its nice to have it bought on a show, meanwhile i wait for my 3 F. Dula's Waidbestecke, they move pretty slow during shipping from Germany, they are stuck somewhere on an export distribution center frown near the border.

Here is a great thread by Gary, who i guess owns the mayority of these sets wink

F.Dula is the maker.
I will post some pics when i can find the time.

Wow, those are sweet!! Guess the DGRM is because of the blade shape[?]
Posted By: Baz69 Re: Lets see something! - 11/04/2021 03:16 PM
The Maker of these was J.E. Dittert, Freidrich Dula was the bladesmith. The patent date for these was in October 1936 so any without DRGM on the blade is prior to that date.

Interesting knife on the far left of Gerrits picture, I do not recognise that as F Dula or at least I have never seen that type before, is it marked at all, it's certainly in a F Dula scabbard.

Gaspere,
Yes I presume the DRGM was for the blade shape, these were designed by Walter Frevert who later became Gorings chief Forester in Rominten(hunting reserve)

Gary the full stag knife is in bowiesstyle and is marked with "Handarbeit" on its ricasso.
I have been offered a second one also in a Dula scabbard, by the same seller from who i bought the 3 Dula's , i have been offered these sets by a friend of the former owner who passed away.
He was a long time collector.
It was great seeing another one in another collection, so there has been produced a small batch.

Cheers

Hey Wetzel,
Hey G,

Thank you, and that wasn't the largest turn out. I believe the very first one held in Frankfurt was 8000 shooters but with only 100 targets.

I like just about anything shooting and hunting related.

Silver prize cup from 19th Deutches Bundesschiessen held in Koln 1930 with 3500 shooters and 200 targets and Munich mug. The Schutzenliesel or target girl pictured on the left was based on a real person. Her story is a nice historical read. Best!

Silver prize cup from the 20th Deutches Bundesschiessen held in leipzig 1934, the last of the great matches, 1800 shooters and only175 targets. After this it all changed. In 1937 the Deutscher Schutzenbund united with the Reichsverband Deutscher Kleinkaliber-Schutzenverbande and the Deutscher Kartell for Jagd and Sportschiessen and formed into the Deutscher Schutzen-Verband.

I don't think I showed this before. German target rifle with heavy octagon barrel, which was one of the shooters in the 15th Deutsches Bundesschiessen held in Munich 15-22 July 1906, 5000 shooters and 176 targets and was in others as well. So I'm lucky to own it. The double set triggers, once set you blow on it and it will go off lol. They are works of art!
