I know there's a few collectors out there that find the dress bayonets boring, unless you collect factory etched. I like the more obscure pieces, they're there if you look. Some collect by TM's, others mint only. Here's some monogrammed pommels. I hope you like. They're a period style like you see on daggers and swords, intertwined initials, with slight differences. Here's a short Pack "EN" marked. Quite a bit of plating loss on this one and the next, due to the plating being disturbed and not well taken care of over the years.

This one I consider rare x4 IMO. Being monogrammed, a Pioneer plus being short, and with the full bird pommel. This one's marked "RG". Alcoso TM.

And last but not least, the poor mans version. More than likely done by the owner, but interesting none-the-less. I just wanted to show what could be found when you look past the fact that a dress bayonet isn't just a dress bayonet. And I love the unit marked ones as well.

I know Spock from the UK has one as well with a neat blade with H's b-day on it, flak unit I believe, but the pommel I feel hits this catagory.

Thanks guys. I'm glad they've been enjoyed. After I picked the first one up it got me looking for more of them. Instead of collecting by TM's I kind of varied my collection to kind of round it out.

Wow,those are indeed beautiful. The Alcoso piece is great.. in fact all are. I have yet to have one of a similar type myself, but maybe one day I will be lucky enough to have one too

Terry, I love both pieces. You always seem to pull one out of the hat that I haven't seen before, as well as others here on GD. What do you make of the "E.ST."? The other looks definately jeweler done? Very professional looking.

Just a thought, I don't see this type of embellishment on FW pieces. Could it be not so much private purchase, and government bought. It would explain why so many inventory marked pieces there. I only see high end presentation pieces and fakes, and alot of Heer pieces with alot of poor mans engravings.

The E. St. is not the best of engraving. The S is slanted. The St. has added lines in the engraving but the E.has none. I have always thought that the owner may have done this one. I looked up german names and there are several that start with St.I have had this one for over twenty years.
The other one I purchased 5-6 years ago. As you observed it looks to have been done by a professional.

I find it interesting that they were done on the obverse and reverse side of the pommels. I also have a bayonet with A. K.stamped, not engraved,on the blade.

These soilders monogrammed there edged weapons for the same reason we do today, for pride and to have something a little different. You are right if they couldn't aford a nice custom etched bayonet this was next best. I had a custom knife made a few years ago with my name on the blade. It actually hurts the resale value but I wanted something to be handed down from one generation to another.
