Can anyone tell me if there were any byf bayonets produced? If so, would there be any dated 1944? And, if so, how would the code read, meaning byf44?

tj,

No, byf (Mauser-Werk KG) made no bayonets with this marking. So, there should be no byf marked bayonets as they manufactured firearms, and firearm parts, but not bayonets. Any code marked S84/98 that is dated 1944 would be proper with a byf 44 K98k carbine. Mauser did sell some K98k as stands of arms (complete with bayonets) but they did not make the bayonets. The Portuguese and Japanese contract rifles come immediately to mind.

Thanks for the information, Orpo.

It's not that I have one, it is that I have a byf44 rifle that is almost, if not, museum quality, and was hoping to 'complete' the package.

Since moving to St. Maarten, my collection has dwindled down to my absolute favorites, and this rifle is the favorite of those.
