It's a mis-matched numbers combat bayonet.

I would have to guess that someone wanted to make it look better, so they chromed it.

This is a nonmatched german combat bajonet from maker ddl = JOS.CORTS Sn. - Remscheider Hobelmesserfabrik Josua Corts und Sohn, Remscheid 1940 with a parade scabbard from the maker, Paul Weyersberg & Co., Solingen 1939 Value ? well in denmark it probaly go for around 600kr to 700kr danish kroner + frog in good condition as this one is. I dont no the international prices on these but surely someone here at the bcn forum does

Wiking - thanks for the info... I thought that someone had just chromed it to make it look better like Mr. Roberts said....Are these combinations rare?

Nickling of the scabbard is probably not WWII as they had dress bayonets and did not use normal issue equipment (scabbard serial shows it to be a standard issue item) Mismatched and played with items do not fetch a lot of money in this area as there are so many original items and you can still get near mint and matched bayonet and scabbard pairings

ddl is nice piece in good date, You should find a normal Corts or ddl scabbard for Your piece, best regards,Andy

I also have a scabbard like his and was told it was a parade scabbard ? well i dont know if they wore "privat dress bajonets" for their millitary parades ? but perhaps someone here can clerify that ? Im adding some pics of my scabbard

Anyone there like chromed finish??, i believe when You remove the finish on J.Corts scabbard You should made a nice piece, these 98k combat bayonets were not used as parade weapons, and the chrome finish upgrade was done 99% postwar, for parade was used Extraseitengewehr KS98 or 01,that was nickled by production.best regards,Andy
