As a "newbie"to the forum I've no idea if this topic has come up before,but are there any thoughts on what I believe are called lightbulb marks?I have a sawback S14 bayonet with one of these marks containing a script g followed by SM.These marks are mentioned in John Walters bayonet book as appearing on the S15 Gottscho bayonet and what they meant at that time was unknown.I'm wondering if anything has come to light in the 30odd years since,and whether these marks are often seen on the S14, most of which seem to have Samsonwerk on them.

The "Seitengewehr 14", as a new construction, were made by the firms:

- Samsonwerk
- BK
- FP (Friedrich Pl�cker)
- Odeon Berlin
- Bayard(only the blade)/Hammesfahr
- FH (F.Herder)
- RH
- SD
and
- Gottscho

In walters book gotscho is missing, i know.


Dr. Lucion Gottscho (trademark G in a lightbulb) was not a maker...he was a trader.

the S.M., KS, KSD, SW, S, BI, SK or WS are the signs of various not know blade suppliers.

Gottscho deliver the SG14 and the SG15.
the letters between Gotscho and the bavarian and the prussian war departments for the contract and delivering details of the S14 and the S15 still exist. i own copies.
