Etching on the bayonet and marker mark. Fake or original? Please any opinions.

This etch appears in Wayne Techet's book on page 106 on a CD SChaaff marked blade. It is a Klaas product (the so called Klaas Wide Eagle) and Klaas made several versions of this etch available to some other makers, notably Anton Wingen as your example.

I have two versions of this etch with the slant front bookmark, one such as this on an unmarked blade, and one with the slant going from bottom to top on an Anton Wingen marked blade. The Wingen maker mark is oriented across the blade as well.

Here are pics of both, the Wingen first, then the unmarked.

So, in a roundabout way, I am saying that I think your etched bayonet is ok.

John

John,
This beautiful long winged Eagle is not "so called" it is ONLY associated with the Klaas Company on pre-38 and throughout the Reich period.
